When do you use serological allergy screening?

Allergy screens are increasingly recognised by veterinary surgeons to provide a useful aid in the diagnosis and management of allergic disease in cats and dogs.  This is what you told us in our research last year, with 9 out of 10 vets who had used the YorkTest service recommending it to colleagues.

• For gastrointestinal symptoms the Food Allergy Test was used very soon in the work up procedure to assist in selecting the correct dietary therapy.
• Cat respiratory and dog and cat behavioural symptoms and otitis are increasingly acknowledged as well as the classic gastrointestinal and dermatological signs of allergic disease.
• Dermatologists stated they used the tests particularly for small dogs and cats where intradermal testing was more difficult to perform.
